Dr. Jen Schommer, DC, CVSMT
I work on dogs, cats and horses. I perform the first chiropractic care visit for animals in the comfort of your home, where your animal feels the most comfortable and relaxed. Since I am usually busy visiting pets and making house calls, I prefer to call you at a time convenient to you. I also do the initial call, to answer any questions you may have, discuss the next steps (prior to my visit) and then set up the appointment.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an animal chiropractic visit cost?
The initial visit for horses is $150 and each subsequent visit is $75.
The initial visit for dogs and cats is $100 and each subsequent visit is $50. There is a small travel fee associated with the visit. Ask Dr. Jen for clarification. **ONLY $50+ travel by Aug 1st, 2019!
Typically how long are the appointments?
The initial visits are on average 45 minutes to 1 hour. Follow-up visits are usually 15 to 30 minutes.
How many visits will my pet need?
Dr. Jen is unable to give an accurate answer to the question, but she asks that you commit to three visits. Therefore she can better determine what is best needed for your friend.
Is animal chiropractic like human chiropractic?
Animal chiropractic is like human chiropractic in the fact that both treatments target the nerve system to allow the body to function at its upmost potential. It is different in the fact that with animal chiropractic, you will usually never hear the “cracking” and “popping” sounds like we do when humans are adjusted.
Is animal chiropractic painful for my pet?
Chiropractic adjustments do not cause pain. Dr. Jen may need to work in areas that are already tender. Dr. Jen is very gentle with her chiropractic adjustments and takes in to account how the animal is feeling. Occasionally there may be some muscular soreness after an adjustment, just like after a massage, but this is rare. Our friends may feel a bit more tired following their chiropractic adjustment.
Why do you need a veterinarian referral to see my pet?
Minnesota state law requires that Chiropractors certified in Animal Chiropractic obtain a referral from the animal’s veterinarian before chiropractic services are provided. This law was written with your furry friend in mind. This ensures communication between the chiropractor and veterinarian and allows the chiropractor to obtain pertinent information that may be used to better help your pet.
